On Friday, The Beatles received their first Grammy nominations since 1997.

The Fab Four received two nominations for their newest and purportedly final track, “Now and Then,” with a nomination in the record of the year category alongside modern artists such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish.

The legendary rock band received acknowledgment in the best rock performance category for the song.

This year’s nominations for “Now and Then” represent the first Grammy nominations for The Beatles since the late 1990s, when they received three awards in 1997.

Described by Paul McCartney as “the final Beatles song,” this track, composed by the late John Lennon—who passed away in 1980—includes original vocals recorded by Lennon in 1970, which have been maintained through the use of artificial intelligence.

“Now and Then” includes fresh instrumentation from McCartney and Ringo Starr, the remaining two members of The Beatles, along with guitar tracks recorded by the late George Harrison, who passed away in 2001, from the 1990s.

The Beatles achieved their inaugural Grammy Award victory in 1965 at the 7th Grammy Awards, where they received the honors for best new artist of 1964 and best performance by a vocal group for their enduring classic “A Hard Day’s Night.”

In 1968, the band received the Album of the Year award for their innovative album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” To date, they have accumulated a total of seven Grammy Awards.

Nonetheless, the Beatles are not the sole iconic rock ‘n’ roll band from that period featured on this year’s Grammy nomination list. The Rolling Stones received a nomination on Friday for the best rock album category for their 2023 release, “Hackney Diamonds.”

Guided by founding members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, the Rolling Stones have collectively received three Grammy Awards throughout their career, with the latest awarded in 2018 for their album “Blue & Lonesome” in the category of Best Traditional Blues Album.

In 1978, they received their initial recognition for the album “Some Girls,” which was nominated for album of the year.
